Comparison of Mineral Nutrient Contents of Soil and Leaf as Influenced by Cultivation Years in ¢¥ Fuji ¢¥ Apple Orchards around Chungju Lake

Abstract
Soils and ¢¥Fuji¢¥ apple leaves in the orchards around Chungju Lake were analyzed to compare mineral nutrient contents by different cultivation years. Samples were taken in 43 orchards, which were divided into three groups; below 10 (17 orchards), 11-19 (15 orchards) and over 20 (11 orchards) years. Levels of pH and contents of organic matter, available phosphorus, and exchangeable canons such as potassium and calcium in the top soil showed a tendency of slight increase as cultivation year increases. However, there was no difference between the contents of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium of ¢¥Fuji¢¥ apple leaves among the above groups. The contents of copper and zinc were much higher in the top soil of orchards cultivated over 20 years than in those cultivated below 10 years, and the contents of lead, cadmium, and chromium increased slightly as cultivation years increased. In apple leaves, the contents of copper and zinc were much higher in orchards over 20 years than in those below 10 years, but the contents of lead, cadmium, and chromium were almost same in three groups. level of pH, contents of organic matter, and mineral nutrient were much less in sub soils (15-30 §¯ depth) than in top soils (0-15 §¯ depth) in all three groups.
